NUEKIE, INC.: (pronounced: Nu-whe-key), a start-up ethnic dermatology company located in Tallahassee, Florida which specializes in creating effective therapeutic dermatological products for the ethnic population. The company is founded by Eunice Cofie, a cosmetic chemist and expert in ethnic product development. The complexities of the unique structure and function of ethnic skin brings about skin diseases which require a unique approach in treatment. Unfortunately, the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries have not taken these facts into account in their product development and have taken a “one-size-fits-all” approach to ethnic skin care. The market is left with a huge gap in effective treatment products for commonly found disorders in ethnic skin. Nuekie is developing a product line which treats the most common skin disorder amongst persons with skin of color called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition in which dark patches or spots appear on the skin after an inflammatory disease, irritation, trauma, or medication reaction has occurred in the skin. The mission of Nuekie is to become the global leader in ethnic skin care through the creation of innovative products and providing skin health education to its consumers and skin professionals.
